WORTHY BACKUPS

QUARTERBACKS

MATT MOORE - Moore is the primary backup for Carolina’s Jake Delhomme. He started the last three games of 2007 and actually produced some decent numbers. Delhomme’s status is shaky and any quarterback throwing to Steve Smith, D.J. Hackett and Mushin Muhammad should be given some consideration.

SAGE ROSENFELS - Rosenfels played nine games in 2007 as the backup to Schaub. He had some monster games against Tennessee and Tampa Bay, both of which have pretty good defenses. Over a sixteen game season Rosenfels would project to 2993 yards, 26 touchdowns and 21 interceptions. That puts him in the mix for a starting fantasy gig so if Schaub goes down, Rosenfels certainly requires some consideration.

RUNNING BACKS

MAURICE JONES-DREW - Jones-Drew is not your typical backup as he still gets a number of touches. He is one tweaked Taylor hammy away from a top ten running back.

CHESTER TAYLOR - In the two games filling in for an injured Peterson, Taylor had 52 carries, 243 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. He is a starter who has been over shadowed by exceptional teammates.

AHMAD BRADSHAW - The injury to Ward allowed Bradshaw to shine late in the season and in the playoffs with limited reserve duty. It isn’t a matter of if Jacobs gets injured but when and having Bradshaw hiding on your bench is a definite plus.

JERIOUS NORWOOD - Norwood will have to wait a little longer to be a feature back with the acquisition of Michael Turner. Norwood won’t get many carries but does take advantage when he does with a 6.0 average per carry.

DARREN SPROLES - Sproles takes over as the primary backup with the departure of Michael Turner. He had a monster game against the Lions in mop-up duty demonstrating good speed and quickness. Sproles is and insurance policy against a Tomlinson injury only.

DOMINIC RHODES/KENTON KEITH - Whoever shakes out as the primary backup is worth a roster spot. They are one Addai injury away from being a top 15 fantasy starter.
